Lockers in the N1 #
The lockers on the ground floor of the N1 were installed in the summer/autumn of 2008 and have been managed by the Fachschaft Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik ever since. They were financed with StudiTUM funds, but they belong to the TUM.
A total of 292 lockers are available for all students (of every degree program) of the TUM. There are 4 different sizes available in varying quantities.

Current assignment dates #
The next assignment dates are as follows:
- Wednesday, 22.04.2026 from 12:00 - 12:30
- Tuesday, 28.04.2026 from 14:00 - 14:30
- Thursday, 30.04.2026 from 15:00 - 15:30
The assignment takes place as always at the Fachschaft (building N4/UG, room N-1403).
Starting from 04.05.2026, you can drop by at any time to rent a locker.

Please refrain from including your matriculation number! As a general rule, you should only share it with TUM employees (we at the Fachschaft are students ourselves)!
Assignment #
The lockers are assigned to one person for one semester at a time. The assignment usually takes place during the second or third week of lectures alongside the regular script sale. You will pay a deposit of 20€ and purchase a fitting lock for 5€, which you may keep and reuse in subsequent semesters. Additionally, you must bring your student card and an official photo ID (identity card, driver’s license, etc.) so that we can verify your identity and determine your degree program (the latter only so we can identify you more reliably without your matriculation number, which we do not record for data protection reasons).
The assignment is valid, unless you terminate your rental agreement earlier, until the first day of lectures of the new semester. By that day, you must have emptied your locker! Afterwards, you can of course extend your rental (see below).
If you are a new customer, you will need to fill out a registration form so we can add you to our system. Please allow about 5 minutes for this.
Returning lockers #
Before the start of the lecture period for the next semester, the lockers must be properly emptied and cleaned. The deposit can be collected at any time upon presentation of the rental receipt.
All lockers rented since the summer semester 2026 must be returned by 13.10.2026!
Extension #
If you want to continue using your locker, you still need to empty it by the start of lectures and keep it vacant until the assignment dates in the second week of lectures, as we inspect the lockers during the first week of lectures and open and empty any locker that is still locked. At the following assignment date, you naturally do not need to bring any money, since you already own a fitting lock and we simply carry over the deposit to the new semester. However, you still need to bring your student card and an official photo ID so we can verify that you are still eligible to rent a locker. Since we do not reserve lockers, we cannot guarantee that you will get the exact same locker you had before. However, arriving early helps — if your locker has not yet been reassigned, you can of course have it back.
Access restrictions #
The lockers are normally accessible at all times while the university is open. Should the N1 building be locked, access is still possible via the main entrance through the bridges to the N1.
